The IHOS Creates Space to Be More Human

A phone rings. Someone picks up. For a moment, neither person on the line is quite real to the other just a voice, just a problem to solve, just a call to get through.

These are two stories that were told at our October summit in Delhi, and they are the real measure of what’s been built. The shift wasn’t only the technology. The Intelligent Healthcare Operating System (IHOS), built with Health Cloud, Agentforce, Marketing Cloud, and Data 360, gives us the tools. The culture Dr. Chopra has spent thirty years building one that insists technology solutions serve the patient, never the other way around turned those tools into something human.

The Voice on the Script

The first story started the way most in a call center do. An agent answering phones. Scheduling appointments. Entering data. The job had a scope, and the scope was the job.

For a long time, that’s all it felt like from either side of the line. An anonymous voice. An anonymous caller. Two sides of the world. Just a voice on a script. Just another ticket number.

Then the tools changed. Omnichannel. Agentforce. The scheduling, the routine questions, the data entry that used to eat the whole shift more of it got handled before a person ever needed to step in.

What was left wasn’t less of a job. It was a different one.

He started noticing the person on the other end of the line. Not a ticket. A patient. Someone navigating a diagnosis. Someone in distress who needed more than a script could offer. Someone who needed their benefits explained in a way that made sense to them.

Going off-script used to be a risk. Here, it’s the point.

The systems didn’t replace what he did. They took away the parts that didn’t need him. What remained was the part that did.

That’s how a call center became a global patient service center. We don’t handle calls. We handle patients.

The Scribe Who Became a Partner

The second story, same summit. A scribe is someone who listened to a provider’s notes and entered them into Salesforce. Making sure the care was documented. Making sure the billing was right. Quiet, necessary, invisible work.

The documentation still happens. In the agentic enterprise CIMSS is helping MIMIT Health build; Agentforce and Data 360 carry more of it now: the transcription, the structure, the hours of manual entry.

What’s left is the relationship. Providers who used to have a scribe now have a provider assistant — someone who knows their patients, coordinates their day, and clears the blockers before they become problems. Someone who gives a physician back what medical school trained them to do: care for people, not paperwork.

We don’t have scribes anymore. We have provider assistants.

What AI Actually Replaces

Neither of these people lost a job. Neither was reduced to an operator babysitting a machine.

What changed is what the job was for. The technology took the manual, repetitive weight off their shoulders. What it gave back was space. Space to notice a patient instead of a ticket. Space to build a relationship instead of a transcript.

AI didn’t replace the human. It let the human connect with patients, with providers, with each other.

The phone rings again. Someone picks up. This time, before anything else is said, both people on the line already know: there’s a person on the other end.

AI didn’t make us less human. It made space for more of it.
